A vote of support from her peers has landed Douglas County District 3 Commissioner Tarenia Carthan as the 2023-2024 Vice Chair for the Board of Commissioners, pending the 2022 elections outcome.
“As the Vice Chair-Elect, I will serve alongside Chairman Dr. Romona Jackson Jones and work with the entire board,” said District 3 Commissioner Tarenia Carthan. “I want to ensure a smooth transition from District 2 Commissioner Kelly Robinson as he serves his last remaining months of a 5-year appointment as Vice Chairman. I look forward to bringing ideas and a fresh approach to the Vice-Chairman position as I engage our community, elected officials, and business leaders. In the words of Chairman Jones, let’s rebuild, reform, revamp and renew a greater Douglas County.”
Last year, the Board approved a policy that established the selection process and responsibilities of the Douglas County Vice Chair. The position would be rotating, and the person would serve a two-year term. Historically, the Chairman would be appointed by the incoming Vice Chair.
